I recently was unable to upgrade my Acrobat Reader through the auto update feature and I couldn’t install or uninstall Acrobat Reader through control panel.
I even tried Windows Installer cleanup but that could not help me remove Reader so I looked up some articles and after reading Adobe’s help file I finally figured out how to fix this annoying problem.
Basically there are some registry keys in Windows where there are no permissions set so you need to manually give yourself permission to install Adobe Reader again.
